Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain title composition, capable of being continuously molded without thermal decomposition or remarkable variation of its physical properties, using a monoaxial extruder, by compounding an ultrahigh-molecular polyethylene of a viscometric average MW>1,000,000, with a specified amount of a thermosetting polyimide.
CONSTITUTION: 0.4W10wt% of a thermosetting polyimide resin obtained, e.g., by the polymerization of a product prepared by the addition reaction of isocyanuric acid and butyl glycidyl ether with bis-maleimide, is added to an ultrahigh-molecular polyethylene of an average MW>1,000,000 and of melt index<0.01. The resulting composition is molded by a common monoaxial extruder. Whereby a molded product having almost the same physical properties as those of the compression moldings of a ultrahigh-molecular polyethylene, is continuously produced easily.
