Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent derailment of a wheel, by causing the magnetic flux of a magnet housed in the internal chamber of the wheel to flow through a closed magnetic circuit comprising a pair of outer wheel parts on both the sides of the wheel and a rail to attract the wheel on the rail.
CONSTITUTION: A wheel 1 comprises a central annular part 2 made of a nonmagnetic material, a pair of outer wheel parts 3, 4 opposed to each other across the central annular part 2, an internal chamber 5 defined by these parts and a magnet 6 housed in the internal chamber. At least portions of the outer wheel parts 3, 4 extending from their inside surfaces 34, 44 to their flanges 33, 43 are made of a magnetic material to constitute a magnetic circuit. A shaft hole is opened through the central part of the magnet 6 to communicate with those 35, 45 of the outer wheel parts 3, 4. A shaft 7 extends through the shaft holes. The recess C of the wheel 1 may be either wide or narrow. No matter how wide or narrow the recess C is, the closed magnetic circuit P needs to be constituted by the flanges 33, 43, a rail 8 and the magnet 6.
