Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable a miniaturized device to perform a multistage positioning work for various kind of machines, by coupling one cylinder as an integral unit to the other cylinder having a double rod or single rod and performing suitably switching operations of these cylinders.
CONSTITUTION: When being applied to a device for actuating a welding gun 7 in the spot welding apparatus, for instance, to move the welding gun 7 from (c')÷ (a'), a pressure oil is first fed to a chamber A2 of a cylinder A to move rightward a piston 9 and rod 11 simultaneously to a chamber B1 of a cylinder B to move leftward the cylinder B by the force of pressing a piston 10 and rod 12. In this way, a cam roller 16 is shifted by a prescribed amount of stroke causing a rotary unit 6, that is, the welding gun 7 supported to said rotary unit 6 to be shifted as shown by (c')→(a') through a coupler provided in one side of the rotary unit 6. Under this condition, if the pressure oil is fed to only the chamber A1, the welding gun 7 is moved in such a way as (a')→(b').
