CONSTITUTION:A heating composition, containing metallic iron (A), silicic acid and/or sodium silicate hydrate (B), and a metal halide (C), is covered with a gas- permeable material whose gas-permeable holes are arranged in great numbers at less than 3cm intervals at nearest on its one or both sides, having an oxygen permeability of 0.1-5cc/cm<2>.min.atm. If a filler (D) is added to said composition, the oxygen absorption rate can be more controlled. The filler used includes silica, alumina, silica-alumina, etc.
