Abstract
PURPOSE: To disperse with the addition of org. solvent required in shaping work and to improve working atmosphere, by a method wherein, in the polycondensation of phenolic resin, water is added just before a dehydration stage in order to prevent the formation and the deposition of an over-polymerized product on the internal surface of a pipe wall.
CONSTITUTION: Starting materials are introduced from raw material phenol-supply port A, raw material formalin-supply port B and a supply port C for a catalyst and water into a condensation vessel 1. The starting materials are subjected to polycondention while stirred by a stirrer 9. Superheated steam is supplied to a superheating jacket 1a. Steam which is vaporized by heating is cooled by means of a condenser 10 to return water to the vessel. The temperature within the condensation vessel 1 is elevated and then cooled. A para-sulfonic acid as a neutralizing agent is added. Further, water is added from a water tank 2 to a feedtank 3. Then heating and dehydration steps are carried out in a tubular heater 4 and an evaporator 5 by continuous operation. In this way, heating and dehydrating are carried out under reduced pressure, and the product can be obtained continously as distillate.
