Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve oxidation-resisting performance of the blades of steam turbine and to protect the blades against erosion that is possibly caused by collision of water drops contained in wet steam, by coating a layer of cemented carbide having a Rockwell hardness higher than 68 at the tip portion of baldes located at the final stage.
CONSTITUTION: By means of injector 15, sandblast is blown onto the tip portion of the steam inlet side of blades 2 located at the final stage of steam turbine, so that a recess having a depth of about 0.1mm is formed in the surface of blades 2. Then, cemented carbinde is coated to the recess by means of sprayer 17 to form a coating surface 18 of cemented carbide having a Rockwell hardness higher than 68. Thus, erosion-resisting and oxidation-resisting performance of the blades can be improved.
