Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain an inexpensive adsorbing agent utilizing industrial waste, by a method wherein bentonite and water are added to fly ash and, after kneading, sintered and granulated to prepare a heavy metal adsorbing agent.
CONSTITUTION: To fly ash generated from a coal-fired power plant, bentonite is blended and, moreover, water is added and kneaded. Thereafter, the kneaded mixture is baked in a high-temp. zone of about 800W1000°C and ground to obtain particles. The obtained particles have a strong adsorbing power against heavy metals such as zinc or cadmium. Thus, by re-utilizing of industrial waste fly ash, an inexpensive heavy metal adsorbing agent is obtained.
