Abstract

PURPOSE: To accomplish accurate action and higher pacing accuracy by electrically detecting as action signal of each margin stop the movement to the right or left from the given position of the margin rack through the engagement of the margin stop with the carriage stop.

CONSTITUTION: With the pacing action of the carriage 6 accompanied by the printing action and the pacing action based on the depressing of the space key 14, the carriage stop 6a engages the margin stop 54 and the margin rack 45 is shifted by l/2 to the right from the first position. Thereupon, the second reed switch 58 is closed with a permanent magnet 56 to allow the right margin action signal to be transmitted leading to the ignoring of all the signal of depressing the letter/numerical key 11 and the space key 14. Thus, the operator is notified of the action of the right margin. Thereafter, when the carriage is returned to the printing direction with the depressing of the return key or the like, the right margin stop 54 is disengaged from the carriage stop 6a. Thus, the margin rack 45 is returned to the first position, making the printing ready.
