Abstract
PURPOSE:To prolong the service life of the mold by screwing a flat steel plate which is fusion-bonded with a lug type steel plate to the lug part chipped surface of the mold then build-up welding the chipped part. CONSTITUTION:Required number of screw holes 6 are pierced on the circumference of the chipped surface 4 which is chipped of the lug part 9' of a steel ingot mold 1, and a flat steel plate 8 which is pierced with through-holes 7 in the opposing positions is applied thereto and is screwed and fixed thereto by means of bolts 5. Thence, a lug type steel plate 10 is fusion-bonded to the outside surface of the flat steel plate and the spacing portion 13 between the chipped surface and flat steel plate is build-up-welded. This method enables the broken mold to be readily repaired and eliminate the need for its discarding.
