Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a film which is excellent in catalytic performance, adhesiveness to elemental metal, and corrosion resistance and which consists of heat-resistant resin undercoat formed on the surface of elemental metal and a catalyst layer containing an oxidative reaction catlyst and a water-soluble binder, formed on the said undercoat.
CONSTITUTION: The surface of an elemental metal, e.g., stainless steel plate, galvanized iron plate, etc., is provided with a 50 micron or less thick heat-resistant resin undercoat of silicone resin, polysulfone resin, etc., and then with a film having an oxidative catlytic action by coating a catalyst composition containing a metal or/and a metal oxide as catalysts and a water-soluble silicate or a primary phosphate as a binder, followed by drying and baking at approx. 300°C, for example. The kinds of metal as catalyst used include Ru, Rh, Pd, etc., and also the kinds of metal oxides used include the oxides of Ti, Zr, V, etc. Also, the preferred thickness of the catalyst layer is 150W200 microns.
