Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce the product of an even density by detecting the insufficient portions of the metal powder in dies by a pressing pin, adding an insufficient amount in said portions and molding the powder at the time of compression-molding the metal powder being a raw material in the dies in a powder metallurgy process.
CONSTITUTION: Metal powder 4 being a raw material is packed in the cavity formed by a die holder 1b, lower punch 2 and core 3. At this time, a powder packing and adjusting device is provided to the powder box 5 containing the metal powder 4 and the powder box 5 is moved onto the cavity by driving the piston rod 13 of a cylinder. The metal powder 4 is packed in the cavity, thence the powder packing and adjusting device positions over the cavity and a cam base 27 coupled by tapered faces is moved vertically by the lateral motion of a cam 26. Hence, the pressing pin 28 mounted to the cam base 27 moves vertically, thereby pressing the metal packed in the cavity. Since the plate where the packing is insufficient, it dents and therefore the powder box 5 is again moved to the right and the metal powder is added into the recess, after which the powder is compressed by the upper punch to make the green compact of an even density. This is sintered to the product.
