Abstract

PURPOSE: To effectively prevent the contamination of the exit end face of the focusing type optical transmission body array by providing a thin transparent electrode layer.
CONSTITUTION: A thin transparent electrode layer 34 is provided to the exit end face of a focusing type optical transmission body array 33 and is connected to DC voltage power sources 35, 36 by way of a switch SW. Then, at the time when the scanning electron beam modulated by the image signal from a cathode ray tube 31 is imaged and cast onto a photoreceptor 1 by the focusing type optical transmission body array 33 and an electrostatic latent image is thereby formed and is then developed by toner particles, the DC potential of the same polarity as that of the charging polarity of the toner particles used for the development is applied to the thin transparent electrode layer 34. As a result of this, the toner repulsive force acts upon the exit end face of the focusing type optical transmission body array 33, whereby the deposition of the toner is effectively prevented.
