Abstract

PURPOSE: To simplify structure and operation of the conveyor as well as to stabilize tumbling posture by providing a star wheel driven by chain along tumbling guide rails and constituting in such a way that braking torque is always worked upon this star wheel.

CONSTITUTION: With a work 7 supplied from the conveying end of a conveyor, when tumbling starts on a guide rail 2, star wheels 13 catch up with it on the way of transferring the work 7 by progress of chain 9 equipped with the star wheel 13 at proper intervals, toothed portions 131 come to be engaged. Here, since speed of the wheel 13 is a little faster than tumbling speed of the work 7, propulsive force is given by pushing from the rear so as to assist in tumbling the work 7. Then, when further movement is stopped in such a way that the work 7 hits the trailing end or the rear of the work 7 which has already stopped, the wheels 13 pass through the opening of the work keeping on rotating themselves in the direction of Q overcoming the braking torque by a frictional braking plate 15.
