Abstract
PURPOSE:To extrusion-mold a composite billet at the same ratio as its material ratio and improve the strength per unit weight of the composite material by extrusion-working the composite billet at the temperature lower than the melting point of the plastics filled in a hollow metal. CONSTITUTION:The specified plastics 2 are melted into the hollow part 1a of a hollow metal 1 or they are machined to bar-form or the like and this bar is tightly packed in said hollow part to form a composite billet 1. Next, prior to the extrusion operation of the composite billet, caulking 4 is applied by adhesive agents or the like in the clearance between the hollow metal 1 and plastic 2 at the trailing end of the billet or the caulking is applied after a retainer plug 3 is screwed in. Thence, strong working is applied thereto by a hydrostatic extrusion method at the temperature lower than the melting temperature of the plastics 2. Thereby, the composite material of the same ratio r1/r2 as the ratio R1/R2 of the hollow metal and plastics of the composite billet as blank is formed.
