Abstract

PURPOSE:To simplify the designal arrangement for the movable parts of a four-cycle diesel engine, by forming an airtight chamber upwardly of a guide piston in a guide cylinder, so that upward inertia force acted by the lower portion of movable parts at the time of their upward stroke can be compensated. CONSTITUTION:Arrangement for a four-cycle diesel engine is such that a guide piston 13 is connected to the lower end of piston rod 12 that is connected to the upper end of piston 11, and connecting rod 14 connected at its upper end to guide piston 13 pivotally by pin 13' is connected at its lower end to crank 15 in pivotally movable manner. In such an arrangement, an airtight chamber 16' is formed upwardly of guide piston 13 in guide cylinder 16 in which guide piston 13 is moved straight in vertical direction. When exhaust valve 18 disposed upwardly of cylinder liner 17 is opened during exhaust stroke and pressure on the upper side of main piston 11 is lowered, a large upward inertia force is acted by movable parts 11-15. However, this upward inertia force can be compensated since air in the airtight chamber 16' is compressed by guide piston 13.
