Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent the sagging of cables to become a hindrance to travelling of welding torch in the welding base pipe circumference by maintaining the intermeshing of a cable hanger and cable support by the cable pressure rollers provided on a guide ring.
CONSTITUTION: A guide ring 2 is fixed by means of clampers 3 onto the circumference of the welding base pipe 1. A rotary ring 4 mounted with a welding torch 5, weaving mechanism part 6, wire feed part 7 and torch running drive part 8 is rotated along the ring 2. At the welding, the ring 4 and cable hanger 10 are rotated in the arrow (a) direction to take up the cable support 14 from the (b) position past the underside of the pressure rollers 20 in the state that it is intermeshed with the hanger 10. As the support 14 goes approximately round the hanger 10, the welding of the pipe 1 ends. After ending of the welding, the ring 4 and hanger 10 are rotated reverse to return the cable or the like 19 but the support 14 and hanger 10 are intermeshed by the rollers 20 and therefore no slip occurs between the both. Hence, the sagging of the cable or the like 19 from the hanger 10 like the broken lines (c) during rewinding of the support 14 and cable or the like 19 does not occur.
