Abstract
PURPOSE:To activate a new photoreceptor and obtain the good copied images of correct density from the first copying by subjecting the same to treatments such as full-surface charging, developing and cleaning prior to its use. CONSTITUTION:The organic electrophotographic photoreceptor 2 wound on a photoreceptor feed cylinder 6 is drawn out through a slit 1b, spread on the longer outside circumferential surface of a drum 1, is drawn in through a slit 1a and is wound on a photoreceptor take-up cylinder 4. Next, the drum 1 mentioned above is turned in the arrow b direction about the axis 3 and the desired copy is made by the charging, exposing, developing and transfer devices (not illustrated) provided along its peripheral surface. When copying of the specified sheet number (about 5000 sheets) is done and the photoreceptor 2 has aged, the copying operation is once stopped and the cylinder 4 is rotated in the arrow a direction to take up the photoreceptor 2 and spread the new (i.e., unused) photoreceptor 2 on the drum 1, it is subjected to repetition of at least twice of the processes consisting of charging, developing and cleaning, after which the copying is resumed.
