Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the optical position detector of high accuracy and high resolution by providing a reference position projection system within the optical system and compensating the measurement errors owing to the aging of photodetectors and external factors.
CONSTITUTION: The luminous flux from a light source part 10 is reflected only in the direction of a projecting lens 30 by a reflecting mirror 20 and the reflected light projected to the subject 60 generates an electric signal by a photodetector Lb on the photodetector 40 surface. Here, part of the transmitted luminous flux of the lens 30 is caused to generate a reference electric signal by a photodetector Ls by a reference reflecting mirror 50. These signals are processed in an electronic counter device 70, whereby digital displaying is accomplished. Hitherto, Lb was made a reference value, i.e., zero point, but when the photodetector Lb displaces, it directly becomes a measurement error. If this (Lb-Ls) is made a reference value, the differences of addresses may be made constant irrespective of the displacement of the photodetector. Thereby, highly accurate position detection may be accomplished.
