Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform humidity indication and automatic humidity adjustment simultaneously by a method wherein the displacement of a humidity-sensitive element is detected contactlessly by use of light, magnetic force, sound wave, or the like, and operation and stop of a device is conducted according to the detection result.
CONSTITUTION: A humidity setting pointer 12 is set at a desired setting position on a scale plate 13. A shutter 10 shields between a transmitter portion 8 and a receiver portion 9, and a relay stops a humidifier 1. With humidity decreased, a window portion of the shutter 10 comes to a position between the transmitter portion 8 and the receiver portion 9, so that a phototransistor of the portion 9 receives the light coming from a light-emitting diode of the portion 8, and increases current to actuate the relay, operation the humidifier 1. Thus, humidity indication on a hygrometer and automatic humidity adjustment can be conducted simultaneously.
