Abstract
PURPOSE: To raise current collection efficiency in an entire running speed range, by collecting a current from a contact-type current collector in a low speed region but from a wind-driven generator in a very high speed region.
CONSTITUTION: A changeover unit 7 expands a cylinder 44 depending on vehicle operation speed data instructed from a speed detector 8, in a low speed region from the starting of a vehicle to its reaching a changeover set speed Vo. At the same time, the changeover unit 7 closes a power feed switch 9a but opens another one 9b to supply power to a load 10 from a contact-type current collector 4. In a very high speed region above the set speed Vo, the changeover unit 7 retracts the cylinder 44, opens the switch 9a and closes the other one 9b to supply power to the load 10 from a wind-driven generator 6. The speed Vo is set on the basis of the efficiency curve of a wind windmill and the curve of the rate of separation of the contactor of the current collector from a power feed rail. The intersection of both the curves is the ideal changeover point. Efficient current collection is thus enabled in the entire running speed range of a very fast railroad.
