Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a specific island-in-sea type composite fiber, by spinning one type of organic high polymer (A) while feeding other high polymers to (A) intermittently.
CONSTITUTION: At least two types of fiber-forming organic high polymers having different physico-chemical properties, e.g. polyacrylonitrile (AN) and an AN-MMA- sodium methallylsulfonic acid copolymer, are combined into a composite fiber. One type of the polymers is intermittently fed to the others immediately before the combination. The resulting fiber comprises the island parts 1 having the tapered tips 3 intermittent in the sea part 2 almost parallel to the fiber axis direction, and has the unique multi-color effect, hand, and touch.
