Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance production efficiency through facilitated replacement of orifice plate by making orifice plate outer diameter smaller than working table opening diameter at room temperature and by expanding it to firmly contact the opening at a high temperature.
CONSTITUTION: Outer diameter of orifice plate 40 is made smaller than the internal diameter of opening 34 of working table 30 so that clearance G is given. High temperature soft glass is supplied to the table 30 to start blowing operation. Then, the entire top surface of the plate 40 contacts the peripheral of disk type glass, is heated, and the outer diameter expands to become large. On the other hand, the table 30 is heated by transmitted heat from the area contacting the plate 40, but not as much heated as the plate 40 because of difference in heat capacity and quality of material. Thus, its expansion is small so that the clearance G is lost and both are contacted each other by pressure.
