Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the thick coating at the starting of coating by a method wherein, in a coating method of a continuous running web, a web is treated by a low viscosity pretreating liquid and, subsequently, coating is started in such a condition that the vacuum degree of a suction chamber for stabilizing bead in a hopper shaped coating means is increased a little and, thereafter, coating is succeeded after the vacuum degree is returned to a normal condition.
CONSTITUTION: A pretreating liquid such as water, org. solvent or the like is continuously coated to a surface of a web 1 in a thin layer at a pretreating section 49 and, subsequently, this web 1 is sent into a coating section 34. In this coating section 34, at the starting of coating, the vacuum degree within a suction chamber for stabilizing bead is increased a little more than a normal vacuum condition and a coating liquid is coated onto the above described pretreating liquid layer in a thin layer and, thereafter, the vacuum degree in the above described suction chamber 43 is returned to a normal vacuum condition to succeed a coating of a coating liquid.
