Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase the workability, reliability and yield of gluing job of tacky polarizing plate to a cell, by enabling automatic continuous adhesion to cells by cutting the polarizing plate on carrier tape in specified shape.
CONSTITUTION: A long tacky polarizing plate with carrier tape 7 being let off from a material let-off reel 8 is intermittently sent into a die-cutting mold 5. Two knife blades 13 are fitted to the lower end of a top part 12 of the mold 5 in a way that the interval of the blades may be adjusted to the cutting size of the polarizing plate 7. At every full vertical stroke of the top part 12, the polarizing plate on a bottom part 15 of the mold 5 is intermittently advanced by a stroke corresponding to the sum of the cutting size and pitch. Thus, leaving only the carrier tape 1 in the lowest layer, the polarizing plate is half cut intermittently, and the pitch portions are eliminated by releasing device 6, and the plate is temporarily glued to a cell 22 on a carrier feed roll 23, and is finally adhered by means of holding rubber roll 24. In this way, the polarizing plates may be automatically and continuously adhered to the cell.
