Abstract
PURPOSE: To make the rate of reaction faster and prevent side reaction by letting the whole or part of the product of reaction of the fluid having passed through the catalyst layer formed around porous hollow fibers of glass or ceramic permeate into the hollow fibers.
CONSTITUTION: A multiplicity of porous hollow fibers 3 of glass or ceramic of outside diameter 2mm or less are bundled to provide the separation system, and the layer of catalysts 16 is formed around the hollow fibers 3. The raw fluid introduced along the arrow A is received from conduit 2 and is distributed in the direction orthogonal to the bundle of the hollow fibers 3 by a porous (or net-form) distributing pipe. This raw fluid reacts by contacting the catalysts 16 and the fluid formed of relatively small molecules permeates through the walls of the fibers 3 and moves into the hollow inside, is gathered by a receiving tray 6 and is recovered in the arrow C' direction. The large molecule fluid is gathered in the arrow B direction from the spacing between the outside peripheral surface of the securing part 4a and the inside peripheral surface of the vessel 5. Since the product of reaction by the catalyst 16 is promptly separated by the fibers 3 of large surface areas, the equilibrium of reaction moves and the rate of reaction increased.
