PURPOSE:To prevent the resonance of a shadow mask and reduce the color shift of a picture tube by providing an elastic body between the corner of a panel with ample space and the shield or the picture tube retaining member. CONSTITUTION:The picture tube panel 2 is separated between the shield 8 and the picture tube. The picture tube is supported on the shield 8 by burying the elastic layers 9 such as silicon resin only for the corners between the panel and the shield 8. In this case, there are left gaps between the panel peripherals other than the corners and the shield 8. This permits the oscillation transmitted from the mounting member to be transmitted to the shield 8, but a greater part of it are absorbed in the elastic layers 9, which enables the oscillation transmitted to the picture tube to be reduced. Besides, in the sections other than the corners there are left gaps and the oscillation is not transmitted from the shield. This can prevent the resonance of the shadow mask and reduce the color shift of the picture tube.
