Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the simple cooling means for the bearing of a drive shaft, by arranging a housing of the bearing upward in the vicinity of a housing of the water pump, partially receiving a delivered cooling water from the water pump to the housing and guiding it through the path for cooling the bearing.
CONSTITUTION: Intermediately on a drive shaft 3 is provided a water pump 8 on top of which a bearing device 11 is installed. A cooling water from the water pump 8 is partially conducted for cooling the bearing device 11. A constitution of the bearing device 11 comprises a housing 14 and a bearing 15 and that of the bearing 15 comprises a bearing metal 15a engaged with the drive shaft 3 and a rubber tube 15b installed around to the periphery of said metal 15a. While a bottom end of the bearing housing 14 is contacted to a top end of a water pump housing 8a through a seal 16. And a clearance 17 is provided between the water pump housing 8a and the drive shaft 3 allowing the cooling water to flow circulating. While in the periphery of the rubber tube 15b of the bearing 15, grooves 18 are longitudinally provided to construct cooling water paths.
