Abstract

PURPOSE: To make operation easier as well as to enable good chromium plating for a long period of time, by making up a plating bath containing trivalent chromium, at least one of aminoacetic acid etc. and at least one of dithionous acid etc.
CONSTITUTION: A chromium plating liquid is prepared from trivalent chromium (a), at least one (b) selected from a group consisting of aminoacetic acid, iminodiacetic acid, nitrilotriacetic acid, and their salts, and at least one (c) selected from a group consisting of dithionous acid, sulfurous acid, hydrogensulfurous acid, metahydrogensulfurous acid, and their salts. The concentration of (a) is 0.01 mole to saturation, that of (b) is 0.5W4 times mole on the basis of trivalent chromium, and that of (c) is 0.0005W1 mole. In such a plating bath, no lowering of plating speed and covering power with time take place. Also, a specified amount of an alkali metal salt, boric acid, or a metal capable of depositing together with chromium is added in order to increase the speed of plating, etc.
