Abstract
PURPOSE: To make it possible to check and decide the steel billet surface effectively suficiently without requiring the full-time checker, by processing picture signals, which are obtained by photographing the steel billet surface with a TV camera, to print and display its defective parts.
CONSTITUTION: TV camera 6 to photograph the surface of steel billet 1 and pulse generator 7 for billet movement quantity generation are arranged on carriage table 5. Pulse generator 7 outputs pulses, which correspond to the movement quantity of billet 1, synchronously with rotation of roller table 5 to picture signal sampling unit 9 and paper feed control unit 12. TV camera 6 scans the billet according to the signal from synchronizing signal generator 8, and obtained signals are sampled at a fixed time interval, and only the defect signal of billet 1 is outputted onto printer 3 by processing unit 10.
