Abstract

PURPOSE: To cut the inside surface of a hollow shaft to a desired form, by swinging a tool by a slope of a wedge member to control the feed of the tool.
CONSTITUTION: A pipe 6 is inserted into a premachined hole 5 of the hollow shaft 4 so that the nose 11c of the tool 11 is located in the cuitting start position 5P of the premachined hole. The hollow shaft 4 is rotatably supported on roll rests and chucked so that the shaft 4 is rotated centering the hole 5. At the same time, the pipe 6 is moved toward its butt 6B by a servo mechanism to cause relative spiral motion between the nose 11C and the hole 5. The inside surface of the shaft is thus cut. The wedge member 14 is moved back and forth along the pipe 6 by the servo mechanism to feed the nose 11C by quantity for the desired form S to the provided on the inside surface.
