Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the deterioration of quality and yield resulting from the internal cracks of cast billet, by supporting the long side upper and lower surfaces of continuously cast billet with the flat planes at neighborhood of correcting point, and by giving reduction to the short side of the billet with the vertical rolls. CONSTITUTION:The hydraulic pad 9 is arranged at neighborhood of the correcting point interposing the belt 8 (steel strip, etc.); a specified tension is given to this belt 8 which is then traveled together with the cast billet 1; hereby, the case billet 1 is given the safe surface support. Besides, the vertical rolls 4 for reducing the short side are arranged in plural points including the correcting point and its front points, on purpose to give the billet 1 the aim reduction. Herein used hydraulic pad 9 is equivalent to the fluid bearing. According to this method, the sufficient reduction can be given to the billet 1 while it is prevented from the buckling, hence, the internal cracks possible to affect the quality are hardly generated in the billet 1.
