Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the torsional vibration of a spindle, dispense with the adjustment in the assembly of the spindle with a driver and make them compact, by transmitting motive power from the driver to the spindle in the radial direction and by manufacturing the driver and the spindle to concentrically assemble them. CONSTITUTION:An electrode fitting plate 23 is attached to the spindle 21. The spindle is driven by an electric motor 24. A stator core 25, a rotor conductor 28, a rotary cylinder 29, etc. are provided. A voltage is applied to a stator coil 26 to generate a rotating magnetic field to cause a torque for driving the rotor core 27 in the rotating direction of the magnetic field. The torque is transmitted to the spindle 21 through the rotary cylinder 29 and balls 35. The balls are driven along spiral grooves 29a, 21a by the spindle 21 which supports an electrode at the lower part of the spindle and is held from rotating. The spindle 21 is driven in the axial direction to vertically move the electrode. This permits of dispensing with the adjustment in the assembly and making the spindle and the driver compact.
