CONSTITUTION: Solution or the like of phenoxy resin is coated on the glass fiber for optical transmission having a core 1 and clad 2 made of quartz glass followed by baking, whereby a film 6 is formed. Next, the melt of nylon 12 or the like is extrusion-coated thereon and is immediately water-cooled to form a coating layer 7. In this way, the superior fiber for optical transmission which has good adhesiveness to the highly flexible, strong and tough clad 2 and has no problems such as leakage and boundary face reflection is obtained.
