Abstract

PURPOSE: To make possible efficient detection of flaws of the pipe body such as cast iron pipe with the reciprocation of a truck by providing a truck having a flaw detector mounted thereon on the rail being installed above the support rollers for rotating the pipe body thereon.
CONSTITUTION: One pair each of support rollers 1 for carrying the pipe body M are arranged on two bases 2 separated from each other through a bracket 3. A rail 6 is provided along the axis of the pipe body above the support rollers 1 to have a truck 5 mounted thereto travelling thereon. When detecting flaws, a parallel link mechanism 33 is turned downward by a cylinder device 44 to place guide rollers 52a and 52b of the flaw detector mounting frame 34 on one end of the pipe body M. As the frame 34 is supported by the parallel link mechanism 33, a fixed attitude can be maintained. Then, with the truck travelling, flaw detectors 4 arranged in a circular arc detect flaws of the pipe body M over the half circumferential area thereof.
