Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:2-Oxo-3-(4-aminophenyl)butaneamide.
USE: An anti-inflammatory anodyme. Useful as a preparative intermediate for 2- oxophenylbutaneamide.
PROCESS: A compound shown by the formula II [R is amino-protective group, (e.g., benzoyl, acetyl, formyl, phthaloyl, etc.)] is hydrolyzed in the presence of an acid (e.g., inorganic acid such as hydrochloric acid or hydrobromic acid) or a base (e.g., alkali metal) in a solvent, e.g., water, methanol under such a mild condition as to be heated slightly to remove the amino-protective group so that a compound shown by the formula I is obtained. The compound can also be prepared by other separation methods through chemical or catalytic reduction.
