Abstract

PURPOSE:To equalize the size of ink droplets of a multi-nozzle head for an ink jet by equalizing the ink supply pressure applied to the front surface of a vibrating plate to the back pressure applied to the back surface of the vibrating plate by one pump and one accumulator. CONSTITUTION:There are provided a vibrating plate 2a secured with an electrostrictive element 2c onto the back surface and a vibrating plate unit 2 provided with an air chamber 2b at the back portion of a liquid chamber 1b provided at the back of a plurality of ink jet nozzles 1a. The ink supply port 1c of the chamber 1b is connected to the lower portion of an accumulator 4 through an ink supply tube 3 to communicate the upper portion 4a of the accumulator 4 with the air chamber 2b through an air tube 10. When pressure is applied to the ink in the accumulator 4 by a pump 5, the pressure equal to the ink supply pressure is simultaneously applied also to the air in the air portion 4a. Thus, even if the pressure applied to the ink from the pump 5 is varied, the ink supply pressure alters equivalently to the air pressure to occur no pressure difference between the ink supply pressure applied to the front surface of the vibrating plate 2a and the back surface of the vibrating plate 2a.
