Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve stability of material, raise the temperature of a sheet material, and reduce molding time by a method wherein the lead angle and compression ratio of a screw fitted in a cylinder are specified, and the front and rear portions of the cylinder are kept at roughly the same temperature.
CONSTITUTION: A screw 2 is provided with a lead angle of 13W16° and a compression ratio around 1.0, so as to minimize frictional heating in a material (thermosetting resin) due to rotation of the screw 2. The clearance between the inside wall surface 1b of the cylinder and the crest of thread 10 of the screw 2 is set to be 0.02W0.04mm, so as to substantially eliminate leak flow of the material and hence frictional heating due to the leak flow. Heating is effected by heating-medium (oil) circulation system, so that continuous operation is conducted with stable material temperature, without temperature changes which appear upon start and stop of power supply in electric heating system.
