Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the frequency response of a step motor by utilizing the switching characteristics of a thyristor and the charging and discharging characteristics of a capacitor and applying high voltage to the step motor at starting time. CONSTITUTION:A main drive transistor 106 for energizing a two-phase excitation coil 103 is conducted by the output signal from a circuit block 101. Simultaneously, a thyristor 303 for applying high voltage to the coil 103 is conducted by the output gate signal from a circuit block 301. Thus, the second phase is excited by high voltage to increase the current exponetially. Then, the third phase is similarly excited. the thyristor 303 is reversely biased to be turned off by a capacitor 307 at the moment that high voltage is applied to the third phase excitation coil. Accordingly, when the low voltage power supply 119 is applied, the second phase excitation current is reduced, but the rotor is already rotated at this time. As a result, it does not need further current as the initial drive current due to the inertia to rotate as predetermined at an angle.
