Abstract
PURPOSE:To facilitate high accuracy working by working a metal round rod into a predetermined form; making a fine hole for a rough optical fiber by punching; and working the peripheral portion of the rod to a prescribed size on the basis of the hole. CONSTITUTION:Periphery 5, hole 6, tip portion 10, etc. of the metal round rod as a base material are worked, and hole 11 is made by punching with punch 8 having tip portion 9 whose size is slightly larger than the outside diameter of a rough optical fiber, e.g. the size of portion 9 is adjusted to 151mu when the size of the fiber is 150mu. The whole plug is then held on the basis of hole 11, and peripheral portion 5 is worked concentrically with hole 11 to a prescribed size.
