Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a solid electrode type oxygen sensor element simply by one low temperature calcination by enclosing a solid electrode buried with one end of a lead wire with a solid electrolyte, integrally molding the enclosure, calcining it, then seizing conductive sealing agent with the lead wire on the surface of the sintered enclosure and then providing respective electrodes at the enclosure.
CONSTITUTION: A solid electrode 12 burying one end of a lead wire 13 is enclosed with solid electrolyte 15, formed in a pellet-like shape, and calcined simultaneously in a reduced atmosphere to obtain a sintered enclosure 16. Then, paste-like conductive sealing agent 14 is coated on the portion of the lead wire 13 exposed externally. The lead wire 13 thus coated is dried at approx. 300°C in the air for 30min, then calcined in reduced atmosphere to metallize and seal the outside end of the lead wire 13. Then, an external electrode layer 17 and an internal electorde layer 18 are formed on the surface of the sintered enclosure 16 sealing the agent 14, thereby forming a solid oxygen sensor element.
