Abstract
PURPOSE: To raise the reliability of a device for seeing through the inside of a nuclear reactor, by mechanically wiping off a sodium oxide deposited on the surface of a transducer 3 and harmful to the transmission of ultrasonic waves, in sodium.
CONSTITUTION: A brush 31 is attached to the inside of a guide pipe 7. A transducer 3 is vertically moved together with a holding pipe 2. When the transducer 3 is moved up into the guide pipe 7, the surface of the transducer is wiped by the brush 31. The surface of the transducer 3 can thus be cleaned even in sodium by moving the transducer up. Any shape and material are all right for a wiper such as the brush if it can be used in sodium. However, stainless steel is preferably for the wiper. The reliability of a seeing-through device is thus raised.
