Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform the filtration and clarification of water effectively and continuously without causing clogging by the procedure in which fine particles present in water to be treated are deposited in a certain thickness on the uppermost surface of filte bed and the fine particle layer is used as a filter bed.

CONSTITUTION: When supplying original water from the water supply pump 33 to the precipitation tank 1, the original water falls down along the inclined plate 6, directed to go up the inclined plate 5 again while coarse particles are sedimented on the sediment deposition portion 8, and then supplied from the supply pipe 38 to the filtration tank 2. The original water jetted from the supply pipe 38 collides with the blade 11 to turn the float type rotary drum 12, and then the rotary shaft 19 turns to rotate the stirring scraping beam 23. And, the original water falls down through the filter bed 13, purified, and then stored in the purified water tank 32. On the other hand, fine particles deposited on the uppermost surface of the filter bed 13 are always scraped and collected by the rotating scraping beam 23, so that the deposition of fine particles to over a fixed thickness can be avoided. If necessary, purified water is supplied by a back washing means to float fine particles intruded into the filter bed 13 and at the same time to introduce them to the second precipitation chamber 5 by the beam 23.
