Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a similar form mirror of excellent perspective suited to fender mirror of automobile or the like, by joining together two right circular cylinder side mirrors by rotating 90 deg., and forming the curved face obtained by composing two curvature faces as mirror surface. CONSTITUTION:Two cylindrical mirrors 1, 2 are joined together by rotating 90 deg., and bottoms a, b, c, d are caused to coincide. Assuming the composite curved surface having the sum of the heights from the bottom to both mirror surface, when this is used as mirror surface, a mirror capable of obtaining visual field of approximately similar form of good perspective may be formed. That is, when an object is projected to the cylindrical mirrors mutually rotated 90 deg., a vertically deformed image and a laterally deformed image are seen, and when they are projected on the composite mirror, distortions of vertical and lateral images are averaged, so that a field image of approximately similar form may be obtained. This mirror can produce a field image of better perspective as compared with that of convex mirror, so that it is suited as the mirror placed on curved road or rear-view mirror of automobile.
