Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent the increase in the quantity of a circulating liquid without unbalancing a cooling system as a whole in a method of cooling cracked hydrocarbon gas to condense light oil and heavy oil and remove them out of the system, by precooling the cooling light oil.
CONSTITUTION: Cracked gas 1 from a heating furnace A is introduced into the bottom of a heavy oil separation column B so that the decomposed gas is cooled in direct counterflow contact with cooling heavy oil 4 and light oil 5 and the heavy oil portion of the cracked gas is condensed and separated out of the bottom of the column B. The uncondensed cracked gas portion 2 conducted from the top of the column B together with the cooling light oil protion evaporated by the contact with the cracked gas is introduced into a light oil separation column C so that the uncondensed cracked gas portion is cooled in direct counterflow contact with cooling water 8, 9 and the cooling light oil portion is condensed and picked out of the bottom 6 of the column C together with the cooling water. The light oil portion is separated from the cooling water by an oil and water separator D. Some of the separated oil and water is taken out of the system and recycled as the cooling light oil 5 and the cooling water 8, 9. The remnant cooling light oil 5 to be supplied to the heavy oil separation column B is precooled by a heat exchanger F.
