Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the cured product from becoming green by adding acids of phosphorus into a reaction mixture, when preparing unsaturated polyester resins which are cured and dried by an organic pexoxide and a cobalt compound.
CONSTITUTION: When unsaturated polyester resins are prepared by a esterification reaction by using unsaturated dicarboxylic acid, diol, etc., acids of phosphorous are added in a ratio of 50W500ppm, preferably 100W400ppm, based on a total mixture. This esterification reaction is generally conducted at a temperature of 150W220°C and preferably in an inert gas. As acids of phosphorus, preferably phosphorous acid or esters thereof are used. Use of unsaturated polyester resin containing an air-drying component as a resin component such as trimethylol propane diallyl ether etc. gives an improved effect in preventing the color from changing to green.
