For monochromatic continuous block 205, each block is composed of nearly the same color picture element group with nearly the same color structure given to the picture element group within the block as the adjacent block. And for multi-chromatic block 206, each block is composed of plural picture element groups of different colors. Thus the block which is extracted in division into either of these blocks 201, 205 and 206 is coded, and thus the digital coding is possible with a comparatively small amount of the numerical information.
