Abstract

PURPOSE: To achieve better characteristics and lower cost by constituting the optical comb-type filter by which the signal components of at least the basic space frequency are removed with respect to the incident light of linearly polarized light in the sate of less number of using 1/4 wavelength plates.
CONSTITUTION: The optical comb-type filter PC is constituted by a comb-type filter element PC2 composed of a crystal plate which attenuates the signal components twice higher than the basic space frequency, a λ/4 plate 2 and a comb-type filter element PC1 composed of a crystal plate which attenuates the signal components of the basic space frequency. When the incident light is linearly polarized light, the incident light passes straightly through the filter element PC2, is circularly polarized with the λ/4 plate 2, is removed of the signal components of the basic space frequency in the filter element PC1 and is sent to an image pickup tube. Here, the signal components of the frequencies twice higher than the basic space frequency exist but they are smaller than the energy of the signal components of the basic space frequency and therefore the hindrance that they give on the reproduced images is light. Hence, the filter of low cost and good characteristics is obtained.
