Abstract

PURPOSE: To make possible displaying of only one content on the same display surface by forming the display body through superposition of plural polarizing plates with their axes of polarization being inclined with each other and radiating polarized light to this dispaly body through arbitraty selection of its main direction.
CONSTITUTION: Polarizing plates 14, 16 are superposed with their mutual axes of polarization being inclined about 90°, whereby a display body 10 is formed on a turbid color sheet 12. Thence, the polarized light which is obtained by passing the visible light of a light source 20 through a ploarizing disc 22 is radiated to the display body 10. Thereby, the content of either of the plates 14, 15 is projected onto the sheet 12 owing to the relation of the axes of polarization. For example, when the main direction of the polarized light is orthogonal to the axis of polarization of the plate 14 and is parallel to the axis of polarization of the plate 16, the polarized light passes through the plate 16 and is absorbed by the plate 14 and therefore the content of the plate 14 is displayed on the sheet 12. As a result of this, the main direction of the polarized light may be selected as desired and the contnt of only one direction of the either one may be projected on the display surface.
