Abstract

PURPOSE: To remove hydrogen chloride easily and efficiently by use of granulated dolomite.
CONSTITUTION: Granulated dolomite containing more than about 80wt% of granules of about 2W5mm in diameter and consisting of about 60wt% of CaCO3, about 35wt% of MgCO3 and small amounts of Fe2O3, Al2O3 and SiO2 is stored in an additive hopper 1 arranged above a waste feeder 3. Waste such as city waste fed into an incinerator 4 by the feeder 3 is fluidized, together with a heating medium consisting of inert particles, by fluidizing air 5 heated by an air preheater 7, and then burnt. Before this treatment, the granulated dolomite is added to the waste by an additive feeder 2 at a Ca/HClmol ratio (as regards HCl formed) of about 1.0W3.0. Thus HCl in waste gas 6 can be removed easily and efficiently by addition of a relatively small amount of granulated dolomite.
