Abstract
PURPOSE: To make both end smaller-diameter portions of a straight glass tube uniform in thickness and enhance the product yield by uniformly heating both ends of the tube cut into predetermined size and reducing the heated ends in diameter with a pair of facing rotary bodies each composed of a forming roller, rotary rollers, etc. arranged in fixed places.
CONSTITUTION: After heating both ends of each unformed straight glass tube 12 on conveyor 11 with heating means 13, tube 12 is cut into predetermined size with cutter 14 and passed through mouth baking process 15. Straight glass tube 12' with both ends baked is then supplied to a pair of rotary bodies 16 symmetrically moving toward both sides and each provided with forming roller 27 at the central position and a plurality of rotary rollers 28, round roller 27, moving in the peripheral direction of roller 27 while opening or shutting. Both ends of tube 12' are preheated through feed position (a), position setter (b) and preheater (c), and tube 12' is stopped at heating positions (d), (e), (f) in succession to uniformly heat both ends with burners 22. Next heated tube 12' is fed to forming position (g), where both end smaller-diameter portions can freely be varied in thickness with rollers 27, 28. Thus, the yield of straight glass tubes is enhanced.
